Hammers

Ah, the tool I love the best...my hammer. I have spend countless hours beating things to a pulp, clawing, demolishing, finishing and practicing the fine art of wood butchery. I feel sort of lonely if I don't have at least one estwing hammer close by. One cool trick I learned about using a hammer is this. When hammering nails you'll always hit the back or head of the nail if you keep your eye on the nail head. For some reason I guess the brain figures this stuff out better if we stay out of the thinking part.
There are many different types of hammers for different jobs. Most do it yourselfers and home imrovement conasours have only been exposed to the cheap kind of hammer that comes with every christmas gift. A quality hammer made for the specific task at hand is not only a time saver but helps put a quality spin on your DIY project.
Ok enough jabbering, here are the different types of hammers and their applications.
1. The Sledge hammer (my favorite)
2. Framing Hammer
3. Claw Hammer (standard issue)
4. Ripping Hammer
5. Hammertooth
6. Geologist's hammer
7. Ball-peen hammer
8. Rubber mallet
9. Wood mallet
10. Steam Hammer
11. Hammer Drill
12. Jack Hammer
13. Drywall hammer
I'm sure I've missed a few specialty hammers along the way but for all intensive purposes the basic claw hammer and the framing hammer are what most of us will use.
