Garage doors come in all shapes and sizes, and are made from a wide variety of materials.

Your garage door adds not only protection and easy access to your garage, it is also one of the most noticeable elements of your home.

Let's take a look at the different styles of garage door that are commonly available.

The most common type is the sectional roll up garage door. A sectional rool up garage door is made up of several horizontal sections joined by hinges. Each section is attached by roller wheels to a pair of rails flanking either side of the garage opening.

This combination of hinges and rollers allows the door to be easily raised and lowered depending on the materials the door is made of.

Generally an automatic garage door opener is attached to provide easy lifting using a remote switch. Generally this type of garage door is made of metal and some type of composite plastic material. Generally sectional garage doors are a bit more secure due to the fact that they are set behind the garage opening and are very difficult to pry open.

Garage doors also come in a tilt up version and barn door hinged style doors.
