Deck Planning

When starting a deck project you must have a solid plan based on design and structural consideration.

1. Check with your local city building and planning department for building specifications. You will most likely have to pull a permit and follow certain guidelines based on the location and size of your deck.

2. A plot plan may be required showing the footprint of your property and the location of your new deck.

3. Layout your deck with string stakes and boards to make sure your elevations and design are correct.

4. Layout your support post spacing and determine the depth requirements for your footers.

5. Choose the type of material you want for your surface and railing materials.

Once these things have been established your can now begin your new deck project.
