Vaulted Ceilings

Vaulted ceilings generally have some type of arch, slope or extended ceiling area that arches above a floor. The vaulted or arched ceiling adds dimension to a room, making it feel more spacious and open.

One of the most famous vaulted ceilings is the Sistine Chapel, built in 1473. This Italian made ceiling was adorned by the renaissance master s with ornate fresco paintings. It is located in the Vatican Palace in Rome. The most famous works done at the Sistine Chapel were by Michaelangelo.
