Suspended Ceilings

Suspended Ceilings

Ceilings that are suspended are typically made of a suspended metal grid area that is attached to the structure above using heavy gage wire ties. This suspended ceiling grid is usually 2 feet by 4 feet in grid pattern. A ceiling tile is then placed inside the metal grid or frame the complete the ceiling. There are many types of tiles and materials that can be installed in your ceiling suspended from above. These panels are replaceable in case of water or other damages and can also be substituted for light fixtures mixed among the tile ceiling.

The most important part of any DIY job is the layout. Laying out a suspended ceiling is a simple job with the right tools. Normally for big commercial jobs, a laser leveling system is used to make sure the grid system is plumb and level. A simple chalkline, string line and level are good enough for smaller in home ceiling suspension projects.
