Used Brick

Used Brick

If your looking to add charm and style to a DIY project old brick may be just what your looking for. Old brick is just that, brick that was either part of an old building that has been recycled or new brick that has been made to look like old brick. Either way old brick adds a charm and a warmth that new brick just cant match.

I have used old brick for patio projects, knee walls, college bookshelves and the occasional paper weight. You can also purchase old style brick veneer, which can be applied to walls as a facade.

Old brick is generally more porous than new brick and may be more brittle due to it's age and manufacturing techniques that were available at the time it was manufactured.

Most brick is now kiln fired to give it greater strength and overall durability.
